cDemo Mobile Solutions is pleased to announce that Version 1.9 of Mobile Inspector is now available. The Updated Version includes:

New Functions:

Add Transitions between video clips

Settings Page
Configure video resolution – Low / Medium / High
Low (640 x 480)
Medium (960 x 540)
High (1920 x 1080)

New functionality has been added to enable users to add music or voice over to the original audio and as well you can replace the pre-roll “Mi Video” with your personal branded pre-roll video. Prior to inserting your own pre-roll video, you must click on the “Settings” button on your Mobile Inspector App home screen and select the “Video Resolution” setting that matches your pre-roll video resolution. You must capture your vehicle video at the same resolution as your pre-roll is formatted. From this screen you can also choose to select vehicle images from your “Album” or capture images with the device “Camera”.

You will have to upload your pre-roll video to the “Video Library” on your mobile device. To do this with Apple products like the iPhone and iPad, you have to save your pre-roll to your iTunes Library on your iTunes Store and then sync your mobile device to iTunes.

To add music or voice over click the “ON” button beside the “Add Voice Over” descriptor and then click the “Audio Clip” button. The screen that displays will enable you to choose “Audio Clip” or “Record Voice Over”.

Click “Record” to add voice over and then click “Use” when finished.  You will prompt to “Stitch” the new audio in order to replace the original.

Prior to inserting you own pre-roll video, you must click on the “Settings” button on your Mobile Inspector App home screen and select the “Video Resolution” setting that matches your pre-roll video resolution. Do not change this setting unless you have a pre-roll video of a matching resolution. You must capture your vehicle video at the same resolution as your pre-roll is formatted. This is Important! If the Pre-Roll resolution is different then the resolution of the other video clips, the video will be corrupted when uploaded. From this screen you can also choose to select vehicle images from your “Album” or capture images with the device’s “Camera”

Here’s how you do it:

1. Upon completion of the inspection, tap the video icon to the right to access the video settings.

2. Develop the video by tapping the “Stitch” button.

3. Swap our pre-roll with your pre-roll video clip. IMPORTANT: If you shoot a low, medium or high resolution video, the pre-roll you choose must also be low, medium or high resolution.

4. Tap “Upload to Youtube”, add your username and password. Mobile Inspector automatically sends your video to Youtube and your Virtual Brochure.

Important Notification about Mobile Inspector Update Version 1.9

An update for Mobile Inspector (Mi) to the latest available version (1.9 : build 346) has been released.  Many new features are available relating to the Video Functions, which include the ability to:

  • Use your own custom “Pre-Roll” video
  • Load Video Clips from the Video Album vs. only using the camera
  • Add or Re-Record video Voice Overs
  • Choose video resolution (Low, Med, or High)
  • Add Transitions between the Video Clips when stitching the video and more

cDemo will be providing detailed information and training material on these changes shortly. In the meantime, it is very important that the Video Resolution setting is not changed and left at its default setting of “Medium”. If this setting is changed, unless you load and use your own custom Pre-Roll video of the exact same resolution, the Video when stitched together with a Pre-Roll of a differing resolution will cause conflicts when uploaded. The next version of Mi will address this issue by supplying cDemo Pre-Roll videos for each resolution.

cDemo adds the “Customer Review” Process to Mobile Inspector

cDemo Mobile Solutions is pleased to announce that it has added a “Customer Review” Photo and Video capture process to the Mobile Inspector App. We are in the process of configuring a Virtual Brochure for the Customer Review which will be released in the next couple of weeks.

To access the “Customer Review” capture process following these instructions.

You will need to download the “Mobile Inspector App”  from iTunes to your iPhone or iPad. Once you have downloaded the App from iTunes, logon to the Mi App with the same UN and PW that you use, when you logon to your cDemo Dashboard.

Once logged in “Click” the “New Inspection” button and then select your dealership from the “Roller Wheel”. Key-In the VIN from the customer’s vehicle and then select “MiCustomer Review” from the “Roller Wheel”, now click “Submit”.
Follow the prompts to answer the questions and capture the photos and video.

Once you have finished the “Capture Process” you will be prompted to click “Finish Off” and then two action buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen, one to submit the data and photos to your cDemo dashboard and then if you click the Video “Image” you will be prompted to stitch the video and then upload the video to your You Tube account.

This customer review video do receive a lot of views so I would recommend getting familiar with the app so that it is easy for anyone in the dealership to capture customer reviews.

2011 Mashable Awards – cDemo Mobile Inspector

Direct links to vote for the 2011 Mashable Awards “Mobile Inspector” : MOST INNOVATIVE MOBILE APP and MOST USEFUL MOBILE APP

2011 Mashable Awards

When I came across the 2011 Mashable Awards back in October, I thought it would be perfect for cDemo’s Mobile Inspector App to participate. I thought to myself “well, it is a long shot and it never hurts to try.” Never did I ever think that we would go so far in the awards!

On November 21, 2011, I patiently waited for the official announcement from Mashable’s to see if Mobile Inspector made it in at least one category as a finalist. As I was reading the announcement, there it was, the results that we were hoping for, WE MADE IT! Not only did we make it to the finals in one category, we were a finalist in two technology categories; MOST INNOVATIVE MOBILE APP and MOST USEFUL MOBILE APP. We were chosen by the Mashable community amongst hundreds of thousands of nominations. Our whole cDemo team was beyond excited.

Reality started sinking in and we realized this was a huge deal when, upon doing research I found that cDemo was:

  • One of only four Canadian companies to make it as a finalist
  • Have the respect of being the single of dual apps nominated in dual categories
  • The ONLY Canadian Company to make it to the finals in TWO categories
  • One of two Albertan companies to make it to the finals
  • The only App to represent the Automobile Industry

After Finding those stats, I quickly put together a media release and sent it to all the major media outlets. There was a great response from them. This was News! We had officially made national news in Canada:

We are Sorry! Thank you for your Support!

The only thing that I can really say is that I am sorry! I am sorry if we have Facebook’d you, stalked you, messaged you, tweeted you and Google+’d you. Thank you so much for putting up with us the last few months. Thank you so much for supporting us, voting for us and spreading the word for us. We could have not gotten this far without you. We are overwhelmed with all the support we have received.

I promise this is the last time (this year) that we will harass you! We are in the last few final days of voting. The most important days left as voting closes on December 16, 2011. The winners will be announced on Monday, December 19th, 2011. Please vote the last couple of times! We can take this home.

We thank you for putting up with us, and look on the bright side, there is only a few days left!

Q: Is it changing? Has it Changed? A: It will continue to change!!!

The automotive sales environment is not just changing, it has changed and will continue to change.  Dealers, website providers, vendors and consultants who help dealers drive sales through traditional sales techniques are quickly realizing that consumers have unprecedented access to information. All sales organizations have to recognize that they must evaluate their ability to keep pace with consumer shifts.  The most recent shift that occurred is fueled by data transparency. Would you agree that If consumers have evolved there is really no sense in hiding or resisting to change yourself?

At cDemo, we see the changes in the online sales environment as an opportunity to shore up a fundamental core competency that will feed this new thirst for information consumers have developed.  Merchandising your products properly by producing and publishing thorough, accurate, transparent and engaging asset descriptions is the core competency that our great industry has overlooked in favor of traditional sales techniques.  In this new age of online advertising, transactional decisions are nearly complete before the customer even decides to make contact with your store.  In order to build trust and confidence in you as their choice of retailer, the information that you display in this space is crucial.  The quality of information will actually filter you out if done poorly or funnel customers in if done successfully.  My advice to accomplish the latter is to commit to building a process that allows for enough time and attention to be spent on properly merchandising your inventory.  6-8 minutes per vehicle is not enough of an investment to break down the online sales barriers of the “NEW” consumer.

“It’s time to change our old habits and catch up to the online customer’s expectations of transparent information.” says Michael Christensen of Auto Canada, a publicly trade dealership group in Canada.

A core philosophy of cDemo is to enable users of  Mobile Inspector to engage in a proven process to collect, manage and distribute information about assets that is easy to do.  Consistency of the collection process within the mobile app results in  high quality description pages that build confidence and trust in consumers that have been searching for products online. The goal of the entire platform is to create a community that is built on transparency.

At cDemo, we believe that communicating with online buyers with transparent information, quality photos and a “REAL” video walk around are the core components of a great online purchase experience for both the consumer and the dealer.  Informed consumers make decisions sooner than ever in the purchase process and are more likely to feel connected to a well merchandised product.  By engaging in a defined merchandising strategy upfront, dealers are able to publish a completely accurate reflection to the retail consumer of not only their product, but themselves as well. Having a goal to establish credibility at the front of the buying cycle will allow consumers to then gain trust in the dealer from the start.  Credibility and trust are choices that both parties feel are the ingredients to great deal.  Although the merchandising process may seem difficult and time consuming, the net effect is that it makes an online transaction very smooth and comfortable because of the transparency and trust that is built into the merchandising process.

Retailers are constantly battling price and marketing strategies by more tech savvy individuals and companies that understand the online search engine space in more detail. cDemo and its products allow for a platform that fosters accuracy and speed to market for dealers.  Gone are the days when dealers can be publishing vague details and enticing advertisements that leave room for misinterpretations and fodder for impulse contact as result of the “can’t miss this deal” stimulus that traditional advertising was founded on.  The new consumer is swayed less and less by endorsements and complicated OAC or qualify to participate type offers. Securing online customers starts with full disclosure upfront, more data, more photos, better videos detailing the item and accurate contact information that creates action.
A major concern has grown amongst the dealer community as of late to who controls the data and information surrounding vehicle sales and customer retention.  cDemo is very sensitive to this concern and believes that retailers should be in complete control of their destiny in this area of the business.  Sales information and customer information for long term retention purposes are the core components to healthy long term business plans.  The information that drives these two pieces of a profitable dealership should be guarded and thoroughly understood as to where this information is being published to and shared with.  The cDemo platform is setup to require the very basic information need to assist in the management of online inventory syndication and distribution.  It does not require or ask for personal information from customers or post-sales data.  Users can configure their DMS to streamline available units for sale with key information like the VIN, asking price, sales status, location, year, make, model, color and trim level, all information that is controlled based on the sensitivity of the user. The purpose of the DMS integration with the cDemo platform is save time when collecting data by having prepopulated fields and to make managing the data collect to flow in congruence to your internal systems.

In spite of this consumer shift, we all can agree that sales transactions are still occurring. The automobile is just like every other industry out there and it is time to pay attention to the new touchpoints that the internet has created. I will sympathize to a certain degree with those individuals that are highly-trained professionals in the art of persuasion and sale techniques that feel threatened in this high touch industry.  Consumers are empowered by information; their thirst for information is the undamental trigger of this consumer shift. Gone are the days of relying on a salesperson to inform and persuade consumers.  It is increasingly more important for sales professionals to turn their attention to detail and delivery of great information at every touchpoint, followed up with great service.  High pressure tactics and misleading-leading strategies are obsolete in the new environment.  Even the new generation of buyers factor in more heavily to your success as they now feel entitled to use the power and comfort of clicking away, rather than walking or driving away from yourstore.  I say, Embrace this change, fuel the customer’s thirst for transparency and information at every touchpoint and the end result will be more business because of it.  Consumer empowerment is here to stay and it starts earlier and ends later than most retailers care to accept.  The choice has to be made to execute better than every before, hopefully you are first. This consumer empowerment does not stop at the end of the sale.

“Sometimes the easy and comfortable route ends up difficult and unsurvivable in the new way of selling…selling online that is.” says Allen Chell, President and founder of cDemo

and MOBILE INSPECTOR app availble on iTunes App Store
Is a merchandising strategy good for all dealers?  There will always be dealers that resist or avoid change. To those dealers that choose to excel at this core competency we applaud you for recognizing that capturing and publishing transparent, thorough and accurate details for all description pages is the most important step in your digital marketing strategy.

Mobile Inspector Makes Top App in Apple App Store

I recently purchased the new iPhone 4S and like any new Apple product owner I went straight to the app store to pick up some apps that I couldn’t use with my 3GS.

Being the ‘business” man that I am, I starting thumbing through the top business apps. Now I won’t lie, I did have to scroll down a bit, but never the less, I am very excited to see that cDemo’s Mobile Inspector App is in Apple’s App store under the category Top Free Business Apps.

“In the Top Free Apps on Itunes, it is about 100-ish down but remember there are over 500 000Apps on there.”

Getting the Most from Your Paid Listings

The ‘ole two birds with one stone trick!

cDemo’s dashboard allows you to reach beyond your primary area market to begin with, but with a few tweaks here-and-there you will be able to increase your chances of being found in a different market area by titling your listing

It is all about how you are marketing cars online!

When listing a vehicle on a paid auction site, the dashboard will ask you which city you wish to target.

Let us say you are selling a Chevrolet Traverse and decide to list it in Vancouver.

If you were to title that listing “Chevrolet Traverse for sale in Abbotsford” or “Chevrolet Traverse British Columbia,” when a consumer is looking for a Traverse in Vancouver, Google will increase its chances of display that listing because you listed it in Vancouver. The pay off comes when the consumers from Abbostford search “Chevrolet Traverse Abbotsford”.

Boom – You just targeted two different location with one paid listing!

In a nutshell - Select a city to list in >> Title it with a different city name >> You can even add the state or province behind the city name. If my math is correct, that is three birds, one stone!

Try it out and “Kapowee, you just sold a car”

Scan and Learn With QR Code Window Stickers

Interactive Window Stickers

Give em what they need while on the lot. Let them learn more from the comfort of their own home
There is nothing worse for consumers when all they want to do is browse, and sales people are popping out from behind a bushes to help them along. What if you could have window sticker explaining all there is to know about the vehicle. You will tell me, “we already have a window sticker that does this”.

What if you could have a QR code automatically generated on the automotive window stickers allowing the customer to scan and take home that vehicle information? We are living in the age of technology and cDemo is ahead of this game. Dealers are noticing that customers are scanning multiple QR codes on their lot, doing research at home and calling the dealership asking about multiple vehicles. This is putting the customer in control and when the customer are in control, the dealers are selling cars!

These window stickers not only allow customers to scan multiple codes and do research from home. Sales people can send these links to their customers! These codes link to a Virtual Brochure (VB) that gives every detail about that vehicle including damage and damage photos. Remember transparency is everything! Create instant credibility!

Deceit and lies do not sell cars. Full disclosure and honesty does! You can tell your customer 300 miles away there is no damage, however when they see the vehicle for themselves and see you have deceived them. You lost a customer for life!”

Automotive Inventory Tool

“So It Records Vehicle Details…

big deal I have someone who works full time doing this anyway.”

It is also the best automotive inventory tool on the market! In fact, PCG Digital Marketing awarded cDemo’s Mobile Inspector App the 2011 Automotive Website Award, for Best Mobile Application.

Pens, paper and a digital camera are a thing of the past. I once heard that Tablets, scanners & cameras are the new wave to the future… Why are we killing ourselves using multiple tools to get only one thing accomplished?

The mentioned automotive inventory tools are clumsy and still require a lot of work pushing your vehicles site to site. If 15% of customers will interact with dealer websites. Where are the other 85% searching? The distributive web!

Reaching that distributive web can be time consuming & without the proper tools. This is where our cDemo dashboard comes in to play!

Capture your inventory with one device. Photos, videos and data are distributed to any website that displays inventory such as Kijiji, Facebook, YouTube, Cars.com, AutoTrader and your own website
